Challenge

A client of a family office with whom we collaborate was looking for expert stock picking with demonstrably strong performance. The family office was not concerned about investment style boxes, growth and value labels, market capitalization parameters, or benchmarks that consultants often use. They just wanted to make good money on good stock ideas.

SOLUTION

We worked with the family office to implement our growth at the right price strategy for the equity allocation of their client’s portfolio. We helped them understand our GARP equity discipline—first as a sub-advisor, then as a business partner.

RESULTS

Aurora’s recommendations delivered consistent alpha over the long term with lower volatility. We also taught them to think long-term. During the financial crisis of 2008-2009, for example, we showed that the companies they owned had positive growth in earnings and sales and great business models despite the short-term media noise. This knowledge allowed all to sleep better at night.
